Re: APRS Operating

Awesome!!! Thanks RedDavid... I have it plotting waypoints on my GPS now. For some reason I get a "Data Base Error" alarm when certain waypoints enter the GPS but I imagine it's because I have a setting wrong somewhere. Excellent. Sorry haven't had that error yet. I did set my waypoints to 9 digit ...

Re: APRS Operating

Hector, Frank, Anyone... Larry and Dave got me twisted into APRS. The purchase of a VX-7R didn't help either. I was looking into all the routes I could go having a FT-857, FT-8800, and Toughbook in my rig and realized it would be easier for day to day APRS operation to just dump the FT-8800 and buy...

2009-03-22: Santiago-Main Divide-Sierra Peak SotaUSA run

A bunch of people from the local Jeep JK forum are making a run up to main Divide. It's very loosely coordinated but half the group is going to Wildomar OHV the other half or, at least I will be heading towards Sierra Peak to go see the SOTAUSA.COM dx activities. After that heading back to Corona an...

Re: SOTAUSA is launched

Figure out the Skyline drive gate, gotta go to Riverside and "rent" a key. I'll do that tomorrow or Friday. I didn't know Skyline was open. The last two times I've gone to check the gate it was locked. The Jeep guys are planning a nice Sunday run so it's more about the run for them. I'll see if they...

Re: SOTAUSA is launched

Can you get to Sierra Peak from Ortega Hwy along Main Divide? I was thinking about running up there to see how this all works. There's an informal run with the local JK forum guys that may be interested in seeing this as well. They are talking about Main Divide or ?? Think the crowd would be welcome?
