Re: OAUSA Net – June 6, 2109 – Camp Coffee

Thought I would post a bit about making camp coffee. I use the pour over method because it is the easiest way for me to control the variables that will ensure a good cup of camp coffee. After spending good money on a good coffee, the remaining variables are: Coffee Storage Brew Temperature Brew Time...

Re: OAUSA Net - May 9 & 16, 2019 - Camp Lighting

Just for fun, let's look backwards to the first head worn lamps. Calcium Carbide Miners Lamps were state of the art because they provided a fairly bright (for 1900) light using acetylene gas. Here are some pictures of how far we have come.... Calcium Carbide Lamp Drawing.PNG Head Lamp Circa 1920.jpg

Re: OAUSA Net - May 9, 2019 - Camp Lighting

I just had to share some of my favorite camp lighting/lanterns. The pics below include several lanterns. I love the Dietz No. 1 because of its extra large tank. Of course, any of the Coleman lanterns from the 1952 "Christmas Lantern" to the 1957 "Professional Model (that is the model 202) or even th...

Re: OAUSA Net - May 02, 2019 - New Ham Radios Equipment

Not a new radio at this point but last field day, I upgraded from a Yaesu FT 991 to a 991A.

I really like the new radio for the real time analyzer capability.

Re: OAUSA Net - May 02, 2019 - New Ham Radios Equipment

I am looking forward to hearing about any new equipment that anyone would like to share. I will share this radio that I was given to preview by Kevin (KK6DGL) it is a Yaesu FT 4X. It is a dual band HT that appears to be very well constructed. I have several HT radios and I may need to pick one of th...
