Re: Eastern Sierras/Inyo Mountains

Looks like a great getaway. Tons of stuff to do/see on either side of 395...and fairly quick to get to from the LA area.

Re: 2011 Field Day Volunteer Operator List

If I've got this right, we'll be focusing on 3 bands - 15m, 20m, and 40m ? Seems like we'll have plenty of radios, and we should have plenty of operators / assistants to keep them running for the full 24 hours...this should be awesome !!! I picked up a couple of 50' coax cables, and 4 extra coax co...

Re: 2011 Field Day Volunteer Operator List

Randy, Yes I'll be there Friday, just let me know what time you want me to show up. If need be, I can scrub going on the run to help with the Field Day events (as this is the pri goal for the weekend). Ollie, Sorry.. I thought that Saturday's run was your run. But if I'm needed I might not be able ...

Re: 2011 Field Day Volunteer Operator List

We need a volunteer for 15m Band Captain. I'd like to see one of the newer Generals step up for this. I'd be glad to coach them. 15 is fun to work, I'll volunteer for that one. Looks like I'm only going on the Saturday run that Ollie has planned. Jon, Thx for volunteering. Only snag is that a Band ...

Randy - I'm in to work the radios as needed....I think you "hinted" at having me captain the 40 meter band, but I'm good for whatever needs to be done... I didn't hint........you're on the hook! Hector has picked up the ball and is running 20m. We need a volunteer for 15m Band Capta...

2011 Field Day Volunteer Operator List

We're going to need radio operators of all license class levels for this years event. If you've got HF or Field Day experience.....great! If not, we're going to make it stoopid easy for those who'd like to give it a try. Whether it's just for a few minutes, a few contacts or for an entire shift........

Re: 2011 SummerFest Field Day Planning/Discussion

I can offer a few things as well... > Yaesu FT-897 HF Transceiver > Yeasu FT-857 in truck if needed. > Antenna Tuner for FT-897 > 80M Dipole > Make Your Own Dipole Kit: Kit has the three plastic insulators that allow you to make your own dipole. Center insulator has a coax connector on it. > MFJ An...

Re: Interesting Little RV

I stand corrected, 2CV, it was 25 years ago. ES2 was a great movie, forgot about that. Being in one is similar to a riding in a sealed tuna can on wheels, at least the rag top opened it up a bit. That must've been a heck of a trip. Did you have to do any mountain roads or an autobahn?...cuz, that w...

Re: Interesting Little RV

Yep AKA a 2vc. I have never seen the truck model in the US before. I rode in the in the back seat of a 2vc from Rome Italy to Bonn Germany. One of the greatest road trips of my life. There is a great scene in a James Bond movie of Bond taking a shortcut and driving a 2VC down some mountain switchba...
