Re: Avid APRS users??

I always use APRS when offroad, especially when others in the group are also using APRS. I will usually use APRS when taking trips more than about 40 miles. I’d say I’m an avid user.

Re: OAUSA Net - September 10, 2020 - Alternate Power in the Wilderness

Current Setup September 2020 Folding is another option, but I believe the flexible panel might be more durable. Using two of these Renogy 50-Watt panels in series. Seem durable and easy to store. 50W-FlexiblePanel.png Limitation of this WMR Epic Pwrgate is that you need to boost power for best char...

Re: OAUSA Net - September 10, 2020 - Alternate Power in the Wilderness

The Wiring, Connectors, and Fuses Use recommended cable sizes or larger to avoid resistance / power loss 10 ga looks pretty good to handle two 100-Watt panels 25 feet away. Re: OAUSA Net - September 10, 2020 - Alternate Power in the Wilderness

The Brains of the System: The Controller Also called Solar Charge Controller Takes higher panel voltage (usually 18V) Drives 12V load with limited current (usually not inverter) Draws from battery when panel insufficient Charges battery when panel surplus Note: can also connect load (e.g., inverter...
