Re: Dual Diamond K9000 Mount Installation

I used a DPDT center off momentary switch from my local Radio Shack. The wiring is pretty simple. The wires to the mount motor connect to the center terminals on the switch. The power goes to the outer terminals hooked up so that positive and negative to the center terminals are reversed depending o...

Re: "BugEater" Diamond K9000 Test

It shouldn't be too hard to find a place to mount the switch but hiding the wire may be more difficult. The switch that comes with the K9000 is a small surface mount unit. I took one apart to see how it was wired while doing my installation. I thought that it was a cheap membrane switch but was impr...

Additional Camping Venues

I really enjoyed last weeks net on off road camping ideas. I hope that the discussions on this topic continue in the future. It would be good to schedule a net to discuss mountain camping options beyond Big Bear in time to plan something for this summer. I'd like to suggest a discussion on the Kern ...

Re: Fest Events

What are the chances to have camp out event sometime in July or August?
I vote for Big Bear or the Kern Plateau.

Re: Cool Chair

According to the web site the weight of the chair approximately 5.3 pounds. It is definitely more stable than the cheap folding aluminum chairs. Keep in mind that this is a low chair. The seat is about 11 1/2" high. I find that the arms are plenty strong enough to brace yourself when getting up. I u...

Cool Chair

I picked up one of these from Expedition Outfitters -

http://www.kermitchair.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They are pricey but I'm very impressed with the quality and stability of this chair. It also disassembles into a very small package.

Has anyone tried the leg extensions?

Re: 2008-06-21: OAUSA Meet & Greet

I hope to make it down but at ~$100 for gas don't plan on me bringing the Pinzgauer.

Dual Diamond K9000 Mount Installation

Here are some pictures of the dual Diamond K9000 motor drive mount installation on my Pinzgauer. I rewired both mounts to operate from a single DPDT Momentary Center Off switch mounted in a custom overhead console. Both antennas may be quickly lowered to clear overhead obstacles by hitting a single ...

Re: Pinzgauer

For anyone interested in Pinzgauers, Haflingers, or Unimogs I suggest that you check out the Calico Mogfest which will be held this year Oct 3-5 at Calico Ghost Town. Last year there were about 14 Pinzgauers, 3 Haflingers, and whole bunch of Unimogs. Running with these folks is a little different to...
