Very nice Death Valley shots. Did you stay in the Geologists cabin?

Re: Do people still use CB?

Ken: I run both a ham rig and a CB in my vehicle. In all honesty, I haven't used the CB in over two years. Perhaps by design, the runs I organize and the runs I am invited on, seem to be mostly or only hams. I know there are may runs and groups, where you couldn't pry the CB's out of their cold dead...

Re: Licensing Net

Hey Ken: I've heard that also. I thought that Mark was putting that together, but in the meantime I've heard some of the guys doing a kind of round table/net type thing in the last several days. There used to be a guy (sorry, I don't remember his name) who did an upgrade class in his garage that was...

Re: 07 Jeep JK Yaesu 7800 install

Pretty clean install there, Jerry. You and Bruce (BJK) need to compare notes - same vehicles, same color (I think), similar radios in the same location, same antennas in virtually the same locations and both Jeeps look like they were just driven off the assembly line (very clean). You guys must be v...

Re: 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Very nice. Looks like you replaced the factory skid plate? Who makes it and how does it hold up? That is made by All-Pro... If you can't find good skids for your Hummer I might know someone who sould fabricate them for you... If it can handle the additional weight. :D Thanks for the lead, but I ins...

Re: ICOM IC-7000 (HF/ VHF / UHF Mobile)

Ollie: You could very well be right. I wish we had some real trail users with this radio (the 7000) to give us some info. DTO is an ICOM devotee and swears by them - as opposed to swearing at Yaesu's. He has a couple of 706's and has used them in the roughest conditions (dust and lots of it, vibrati...

DUAL BATTERY INSTALL

Dual battery install just finished (well not too long ago). I looked at the Wrangler NW set up and, although it’s good, it seemed to have some shortcomings. It uses two small batteries. It adds about 30 lbs. to the stock battery tray, which is just mounted to sheet metal. And, the hardware looked a ...
