Oct. 2 Big Bear Lake Day Trip

Spent last Saturday Oct. 2 North of Big Bear Lake. Our trip included Horse Thief Canyon which is also known as 3N03A. It is a Black Diamond and has lot's steep slopes and great hairpins but in general nothing out of the ordinary or really that difficult. That is... unless you have a fear of heights....

Re: P-51 and the Hawk

I've always loved the Mustang too. Reminds me of my childhood when Chuck Yeager use to fly the 51 and his friend Bob Hover use to fly a twin engine Rockwell Aero Commander at the air show next to my house. Bob would wear a business suit and put a pitcher of water on top of the console and preform lo...

Re: Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping?

I Came across this on the FJ Brown forum and since it is related I thought I'd throw it up here. I always question the validity of the data but it is interesting to read and ponder. http://www.socalfjcruiserforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5400 As for my position on this topic: I grew up in a hous...

Re: Bad Rollover On Heartattack Hill: Anza Borrego

That's heart wrenching to see and I hope that her injuries are not serious. I know we have our opinions on the spotter and the drivers abilities based on what we see but I feel for all the parties involved. I can see the conversation the driver had before the run: Something like: Are you sure I can ...

Re: 2010-03-13&14: Goat Canyon Trestle / Pinyon Mountain Road

Great pictures and what a great weekend. Let me know when you will be going to the Trestle again, that is if you do not mind a tag-along. A couple of us tried the last weekend in January and after 3 hours we turned back because of time and trouble following the trail.

Re: Winch Bumper

I saw an FJ being flat towed behind a motor home. Not sure it was a 2 wheel or not but I know there are drive shaft disconnects for a lot of different types of cars so they can be flat towed. Some are electric and others manual. Have you check to see if there are any for the FJ?

Re: Plane in Oriflamme Canyon

My guess is that it was a fly by . A group of us were buzzed in Coyote one time (low enough to read the plane's numbers). When we questioned the Ranger about it, She said it was probably a Ranger plane, they have one that flies around Anza.
