The size of those rafts is most impressive. What kind of temps did you encounter?

Ollie:

For the first and the last few days of the trip the temps were very desert like - well above 100. On the other days, the thunderstorms helped keep the temps in the 90s. For the most part, as long as we were on the water, or very close while on shore, it was pleasant. The water was cold, at about 50 degrees, and except for the warmest days, no one stayed in for very long. All of the side canyon streams were warmer and swimming there was more fun.

A ham here in Northern Arizona told me yesterday that this repeater has coverage all the way to the bottom of the Grand Canyon

Interesting.

I will confess that I only scanned each band (2M and 440) a couple of times a day and heard nothing, but that could easily have been because there was no activity on the repeater at that time.

I notice that the repeater was located at the South Rim, and given the many twists and turns of the Colorado as well as the towering walls of rock, I suspect that I would not have been able to make contact unless I was within the line-of-sight of the tower. Who knows though.

Unlike he repeaters in So Cal the repeaters out here are very dead. Your pictures look cool, Was the photo of the blue green water at the confluence of the Little Colorado river and the Colorado river?
