Matt here W6MDE
I was wondering who here are avid APRS users here? Although I don’t have a fancy rig in my truck but I do have a Yaesu Ft3D I take hiking. I like to beacon on my iPhone when I’m home or driving.
Avid APRS users??
Re: Avid APRS users??
I always use APRS when offroad, especially when others in the group are also using APRS. I will usually use APRS when taking trips more than about 40 miles. I’d say I’m an avid user.

Paul is correct.
We use APRS for all of our trips and functions. While it sometimes can be a frustrating exercise to manage all the settings, once it is mastered, the value of APRS is enormous. APRS has been a frequent Net topic as well as forum discussions. If you type in "APRS" in the search box (in the upper right hand corner of all forum pages), you will see multiple topics where it has been discussed.
It has been a while since we have devoted an entire net to APRS, but if there is enough interest, it may happen.
