Indian Country Expedition 2010
It's time to start thinking about our 2010 expedition. With our Parashant trip under our belts, we have decided to expand our travels out a little farther next year. The trip for 2010 will be an Indian Country tour focusing mostly on the four corners area, including North Eastern Arizona, Southern Utah and North Western New Mexico.
While the details of the trip are not fully developed at this time, the following will give you a good idea of what is planned. I will be posting pictures shortly.
Date and length:
The total trip time will be about 8-10 days. Depending on several variables, we expect that it will take place during the last week of April 2010 through part of the first week of May, 2010.
Locations to visit:
Canyon De Chelly - http://www.nps.gov/cach/
Monument Valley - http://navajonationparks.org/htm/monumentvalley.htm
Choco Canyon - http://www.nps.gov/chcu/
Antelope Canyon - http://navajonationparks.org/htm/antelo ... .htm#tours
Red Rock Valley - information to follow
Important notes:
Almost all of the travels we have planned are off the main roads and under Navajo Law, we will be required to hire a guide. This will give us an unparalleled opportunity to see parts of the reservation that few people see and to have access to a person who will be able to share the culture and guide us to some of the most scenic places on earth.
Since we will be traveling on many back country roads and trails, 4WD will be necessary. You will not need a rock crawler but you will need a 4WD vehicle with good ground clearance, good tires, and a good air filter. We will travel from location to location, camping each night.
If you are interested, check out the links above and visit this thread occasionally for more details and information. We will not take any sign ups at this time.

A few pics of Monument Valley. John Wayne fans may recognize the scenery.

I've been planning a trip to the same area for this next spring. I need to find out if this meshes with my kid's school spring break.DaveK wrote:The total trip time will be about 8-10 days.
