Re: General Gear Discussion
Something to consider of you have a SLR digital camera. Over the years mine has developed some specs on the sensor that show up on the photos. (Changing lenses in dust storms is a problem) Its real easy to spot the specs on photos of blue sky. I will have my sensor cleaned before the trip.

Charlie:
This is a great suggestion. You just reminded me that I have been seeing s spec on some of my pictures.
AND, given where we will be, there is a great deal of dust, and changing lenses, can be a problem.

Dave:
I will have three spare tie rods and spare fuses and a booster battery w/ inverter.
I will have my rig checked over quite extensivly prior to our departure.
Is there anything you can anticipate we may need that I can get before
we leave?

At the moment, just fan belts, spare tires, and a good set of standard/metric tools.

I have a good assortnent of tools. only one spare tire.
I will pick up a set of fan belts prior to leaving.
Anything else you can think of let me know I can get parts at dealers cost
in most cases.
What is your opinion of the Engel combo freezer/ refridgerator??
I think the ice fairy may have found me a bit of extra cash??

There are about 5 brands of 12V refrigerator/freezers on the market. ONLY one is made in the USA and it resides in the back of the H2. It is the Fridge Freeze unit made in their factory in San Diego, see: http://fridgefreeze.com/home. I think there is only one other member here, John Galt, who has one as well and if he reads this, he can comment on his experience. I am satisfied and would buy it again.
All of the 12V models use the same compressor so to a greater or lesser degree it will boil down to a matter of size, features and cost.
As I recall the Engel and the ARB fridge units were made by the same company, in China, and just rebranded under different names. Recently ARB came out with a new model and preliminary results seemed good. I have no personal experience here but cruiserlarry and Ollie both have them and they can add their input.
TomS has an Engel and he can add his comments as well.

Re: General Gear Discussion
I've had an Engel for about 6 years and it has been perfect. From what I have heard the new ARB is only better.

Re: General Gear Discussion
Just ordered the Engel combo 60 should be here in less than 7 days according to the shipper
I ordered it through a trucking supplier in North Carolina. No tax and they pay shipping
was the same price as Sierra Expeditions but they added tax, shipping and 3.5% if using
a credit card.
I have 2qts of brake fluid and two of power steering fluid, plus 1qt of atf fluid for Ford
or GM vehicles.
