Take I-10 East to Redlands. Take the University Street exit, EXIT 80. Turn left (northbound) on University Street. Turn right onto E. Lugonia Avenue/SR-38. Continue on North Shore Drive/Hwy 38 until you reach the City of Fawnskin. As you reach the “Y”, veer right on to Rim of the World Drive, past the County Fire Station 96. Continue on Rim of the World, after the pavement ends the road turns into Forest Road 3N14. Proceed on 3N14 continue to Forest Service Road 3N16. Turn left on to Forest Service Road 3N16 for approximately 0.3 of a mile. The campground is accessed by the dirt road to your right.

Turn onto Forest Road 3N14 and continue about 6 miles to Forest Road 3N16. Turn left and continue less than a mile, then turn right and continue to the campground.

With the kind permission of the Auto Club, here is their Map of the area where the test will be administered. Note that I have highlighted the road to the campsite as if you were coming up Highway 38. For those who will be traveling up Highway 330/18 (from Running Springs), when you arrive at Fawnskin, just follow the highlighted route.

Radio call-in for information
For each of the three days of this event we will be monitoring the Keller Peak Repeater. If you need information or help in finding the campsite, we can be reached at:
Keller Peak Repeater
146.385 + PL. 146.2

In order to effectively plan for this, we will need to get an idea of how many would like to participate. If you think you will be testing, please post here and we will add your name to the list.

Because we will be testing at the campsite, it will be necessary to review Hector's recommendations here:

Thanks! I don't have the XJ. I was beating it up too much so I sold it, got a VW Westy and slowed down my pace, but I was taking it beyond its capabilities, so now I sold that and have a 1990 E350 4x4 van on 35's with a rear air locker. I recently broke my hip in the desert, but I should be walking without crutches by the weekend of the 22 so I hope to take the test!

Sorry to here about your hip - and I hope you'll make it to Big Bear.

Congrats on the 4X4 van - I'm looking forward to seeing how your outfitted it for your adventures...
