General Info and Sign-up - 2021 Borrego Fest

IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION

SIGN-UPS NOW OPEN

While the panic over the covid has not entirely subsided, the lock-down has. After over a year and a half, we are now finally able to plan for our usual Fest events with as much of our normal activities as circumstances allow. So, Borrego Fest is ON!!!!

Two years ago, in October 2019, we held our last event - Borrego Fest. At that time, we managed to find an alternate location for this event, and it proved so good that we decided to do a repeat this year. The campsite is the Tamarisk Grove Campground, and you can check out the 2019 event here: viewforum.php?f=216.

Among the many advantages of this site are:
  • actually in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park
  • hot showers
  • water
  • flush toilets
  • camp fire rings
  • tables with pergolas
  • A Ranger station with a small museum and book store
  • nearby nature trails
  • accessible by all vehicles via a paved road

WELCOME EVERYONE!!!

It's time once again (finally) to start planning for our annual Outdoor Adventure USA Borrego Fest event. The dates are set for October 1st through October 3rd, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for three days of camping. This is a family event that never fails to impress. Some of the activities we MAY offer are off-road trail runs, ham radio testing, a spectacular Saturday night cook-off, wine tastings, great appetizers, coffee tastings, Ham radio demonstrations, and more. Please let us know if you plan on attending. Fees and sign up info to follow.

THE COVID HAS EFFECTIVELY SHUT US DOWN FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. As a result, we have been unable to hold any of our events, which, of course, has completely shut down our only source of revenue. OAUSA depends on the donations from this event, and Summer Fest, to help it stay in operation. Campsite fees, taxes, website expenses, and way too many related costs, all add up, and during the last two years, they have really added up!!! OAUSA is comprised of a completely volunteer, unpaid staff, and we have done our best to keep the fees reasonable, and ask that all who can, please join us for Borrego Fest 2021.

LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS
  • Campground: Tamarisk Grove Campground, sites 3,5,6,7,8, 9,10,11,12,19,21,26.
  • Location: Anza Borrego Desert State Park, about 7 miles from the Scissors Crossing on Highway S3 (near the junction of Hwy 78 and S3.)
  • GPS coordinates (aprox): 33° 08.315 N - 116° 22.506 W
NOTE #1: Each camp site can hold a maximum of 8 people with three vehicles. The park service will probably charge a fee of $7.00 p/n for more than one vehicle at camp, which will need to be paid at the camp and will be the responsibility of the campers at that site (split it up, if there is any fee.)

NOTE #2 We have reserved the sites as identified above, and for these sites, they are first come, first served.

HOW TO SIGN-UP

No fee is required if you are only coming out for one day or are making other accommodations elsewhere, although there may be a day use fee charged by the Park Service. You are still allowed to participate in the trail run meetings, trail runs, special presentations, and evening festivities each day.

Fees are the same whether you stay for one night or two at the campground. The best and quickest way to pay for the weekend is through the "Donate" button located at the top of each page in the Forums. Please post your interest in attending in the format you see below, and your name will be added to the roster. "CONFIRMED" will be entered next to your name once your donation has been received.
