Post by toms » Wed Jan 21, 2009 8:21 am

We would like to encourage you to sign up for the Tread Lightly! Tread Trainer Certification Clinic. This is a one day course. There is a minimal fee of $25 to cover class materials and handouts. It requires a commitment to teaching and spreading the word about Tread Lightly! Principles and outdoor ethics.

The clinic is on Feb 13th, 2009 in Primm, NV the day before the California Association of 4-Wheel Drive Clubs hold its annual meeting. So if you are attending the Annual meeting, sign up for that clinic and come a day early. You can sign up even if you are not attending the annual meeting.

You can find out more details on line at And register on line at . You must pre-register. You do not need a vehicle for this clinic. It is about the outdoor ethic and Tread Lightly!. We will not be working on skills related to the many motorized and mechanized outdoor sports.
Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will become a Tread Lightly! Tread Trainer and receive a completion certification and become eligible for benefits provided through the Tread Trainer program.

Tread Lightly! Tread Trainer Course
Those who complete the Trainer course are equipped to:
• Identify possible environmental and social impacts resulting from irresponsible recreation on land and water
• Be able to describe the five Tread Lightly! minimum impact principles and how they can be applied to motorized recreation. (ATVs, 4WD, Dirt Bikes, water recreation, Snowmobiling), mechanized recreation (mountain bikes), camping, horseback riding and hunting.
• Understand and demonstrate and teach Tread Lightly! minimum impact principles.
• Lead a discussion on outdoor ethics and help others explore their own personal outdoor ethic.
Each attendee will receive educational materials including a Trainer Manual, Tread Lightly! Guide to Responsible Use, Tread Lightly! Education Curriculums, and Tread Trainer Power Point.

Participates in the Tread Trainer program are eligible for a number of benefits including:
• Membership in the Tread Lightly! organization.
• Certificate of training completion.
• Expertise in Tread Lightly! ethics and ways to minimize outdoor impacts when recreating.
• 10% discount on all Tread lightly! materials.
• Resources and information to assist in presentations.

As a Tread Trainer you will be responsible to present the Tread Lightly! message to interested groups; Act as a Tread Lightly! volunteer representative for your area/ region; and report to the Tread lightly! organization on presentations held during the two years from initial involvement.
See you on the Trail!
