VEHICLE MOUNTED AIR COMPRESSORS

We did this net over two years ago, but between requests to revisit the topic as well as the value to those who travel in remote areas, we decided it was time to bring up the discussion once again. During the net we will do a review of the different types of vehicle mounted (on board) air compressors that will help with all your mobile air needs, from airing up tires to inflating air mattresses.

Even though we are describing the net as "vehicle mounted", we intend to include the various compressors that are portable. As always, we know what has worked well for us, but we would like to hear your experiences too.

Here are several examples of on board air compressors

A few companies offer York compressors for almost any application.

For those not familiar with York compressors and why they offer an excellent choice for on-board air, click this link: http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/yorkair.html . Here is what the York compressor looks like:

ARB twin Compressor

Most users mount it under the hood but it is available as a portable in a tool box type case.

Use for
Pneumatic supply and electrical control for ARB Air Locker(s). (Air Locker Manifold Kit #171503 required)
Rapid inflation of small, medium and large tires.
Air tools rated up to 85LPM [3CFM] @ 6Bar [90PSI] continuous supply.
Air tools rated higher than 85LPM [3CFM] @ 6Bar [90PSI] using an optional air tank suitable to the run time requirements.

Pressure switch controlled air manifold system regulates pressure between 9.3Bar [135PSI] and 10.3Bar [150PSI] suited to air tools and all ARB Air Locker equipped vehicles.
Highest air flow rate of any 12V compressor of its size on the market at 174LPM [6.16CFM].
High efficiency design consumes only 56 Amps at maximum air flow.

IF you have a Jeep Wrangler JK Mountain Off-Road (MORE) has a mounting solution.
M.O.R.E. has done it again! We teamed up with ARB and designed a mounting bracket to fit under your hood to mount your ARB CKMTA12 Twin Motor/Dual Cylinder On-Board Air Compressor. The M.O.R.E. bracket even has mounting holes for the ARB manifold tank, which also allows you to use both your batteries on your M.O.R.E. Dual Battery Tray and not use up a battery space to mount your ARB air compressor!

Fits 2007-Current Jeep JK Wranglers
NOTE: This bracket will work with the SPOD!

Difficult to see the plate in this picture as it is covered up by th e ARB and SPOD.

Warn PowerPlant-9.jpg (64.59 KiB) Viewed 1726 times
The WARN PowerPlant 9.5 combines a powerful winch with a high-performance air compressor for the ultimate vehicle-mounted multi tool. The PowerPlant 9.5 has a pulling capacity of 9,500 lbs. and is equipped with a powerful air compressor that can air up four 35" tires in eight minutes and even run air tools. With additions such as stainless steel fasteners, a pressure switch, a revised contactor, and a hose and accessories, the PowerPlant is better than ever.

FEATURES INCLUDE:
•Series-wound motor with thermal protection shutoff switch.
•Three-stage planetary gear train for smooth, efficient operation.
•Extreme duty winch sealing for superior water resistance.
•Stainless steel fasteners for exceptional corrosion protection.

•High-output air compressor delivers 5 CFM @ 90 PSI; maximum air pressure is 100 PSI.
•Air outlet/hose connection works with quick-connect couplers.
•Hand-held control for operation of both winch and compressor. LED provides feedback on motor temperature.
•Accessory kit includes a more durable and flexible 20' (6.1m) air hose; quick-connect couplers; WARN-branded tire pressure gauge and dual air chuck; and sturdy carry bag.
•Corrosion-resistant flat-black finish.
See you on the Trail!

Product Spot Light

NAPA Lock on Air Chuck part number 90-536

The air chuck pushes straight on and locks onto the valve stem in 2 spots making a more solid grip that the standard ball foot type air chuck. It is normally closed so can only be used on a compressor that has a pressure switch. It fits on 1/4 inch FNPT (pipe thread). Good up to PSI of 175.
You might find one at the local NAPA. If so they will only have 1 or 2. You can order it on line from NAPA
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTH90536

Price is $14.99

Since we are discussing Air Compressors I thought I add some information on deflators.

Here is a website link to a deflator comparison article i found.
